Bats are always popular with kids, so this vampire bat pencil topper will make a great project.
Kids can create them, or you can make them as treats for a party or to hand out on Halloween.
Because they are quick and easy, they would also be a great classroom project.
Materials.
Black Craft Foam
Pencil
Scissors
Paper for Pattern
Paper Punch
Bit of Red Craft Foam for Eyes
How to Make a Vampire Bat Pencil Topper.
1. Make a paper pattern by folding a piece of paper in half and drawing half a bat next to the fold.
Cut it out.
2. Open the bat pattern
and trace around it on the black craft foam.
I’ve found that pencil marks will show up enough on the black foam so you can see to cut the bat out.
Cut it out.
3. Make 2 slits where the pencil will go through.
Or punch two holes.
4. Cut or punch 2 tiny eyes from the red foam.
Or you can use 2 googly eyes or 2 red seed beads.
5. Glue the eyes on the front of the head.
Slide the bat onto the end of the pencil.
Tips.
Be sure kids are supervised when using sharp objects.
