Have you ever looked in your refrigerator and found a leftover container that you could not remember when you put it there?
We are careful not to keep food too long, but we often could not remember when we placed the food in the fridge.
So now we date leftovers or partly used canned goods with the date we place them in the refrigerator.
And we also date take-out containers before we stick them in the fridge.
No matter who pulls the food out to use, they know for sure how long the leftover has been there.

Brilliant top tip. I am forever throwing stuff away “just in case”.

This is great! I always do this if I open a pasta sauce and don’t use it all. Don’t know why I didn’t think to do it with other things. 🙂

I do this with stuff that goes in the freezer, especially meat. And I will also put what it is if it’s not entirely obvious. Mutton, lamb, beef, soup type. It has made such a difference to how things get used.

Thanks, this is a great tip. Much better than my science experiments that start to grow fur, lol!
