Valentine Heart Candle

By Noreen 97 Comments

By Noreen Doll.

Stick conversation hearts on a candle to make a fun Valentine heart candle.

valentine-heart-candle5w-300x300

Conversation hearts have always been a fun part of Valentine’s Day, even though the sayings on them have changed over the years.

You can make a cute candle by attaching these hearts and adding a ribbon.

This would be a great classroom project for kids to make.

I found a package of 80 conversation hearts in the Dollar Spot at Target, and It is enough hearts to make several Valentine projects.

I found the large fake candle at Dollar Tree, and it has a battery operated “flame”.

Materials.

1 Large Candle

Conversation Hearts

Ribbon or Twine

How To Make a Valentine Heart Candle

1. Remove the label from the candle.

2. Peel the backing from the hearts and stick them in a row around the candle near the top edge.

valentine-heart-candle1ww-230x300

3. Stick another row of hearts around the candle near the bottom edge.

4. Tie a ribbon or twine around the middle of the candle between the rows of hearts.

valentine-heart-candle5w-300x300

For this one, I used a strip of paper 1/2 inch wide and taped the overlapping ends.

valentine-heart-candle2w-270x353

Then I made a paper bow and taped it onto the paper strip, covering the overlapping edges.

Quick and easy, the Valentine heart candle is finished.

Valentine Crown Cut a slit across the middle of a paper plate. Starting about 1 inch inside the outer rim and stopping about an inch inside the rim on the opposite side of the plate. Starting in the center of the plate, cut four more slits to create six pie-shaped sections. Fold the sections up to make a crown. Paint the plate red on both sides and let it dry. Decorate the crown by gluing conversation hearts or stickers on each point.

You always bring the simplest of things to our linky party – fun, really do-able projects with kids. This again, is so cheery and fun. Thank you so much for bringing it to the SHARE IT linky party. Always a pleasure to exploring your wonderful projects. Hugs, Rose

I absolutely love this and am planning on making these as welcome gift bags for my sisterโ€™s wedding. What kind of paint did you use? Are of my paint is water soluble, and I am worried that the paint will eventually run or fade if water gets on it. Did you seal the paint somehow afterwards? Thank you!!!
