Have you ever had a purse whose strap was so slippery it just wouldn’t stay on your shoulder?
My daughter has a purse, which she loves – but hates to wear, because it slides off her shoulder whenever she puts it on.
We’ve found that shelf liner works in lots of situations where something won’t stay in its place, so we decided to try using some on the strap.
First we chose a color that wasn’t too different from the strap color, so it wouldn’t be obvious.
Then we cut 2 small strips the width of the strap and about 4 inches long each. There is a buckle in the middle of the strap, and we wanted to put the strips of shelf liner on both sides of it.
Before we glued the strips on, she tried on the purse and adjusted the strap to exactly the way she liked it
Using a toothpick, we applied a small amount of glue, spreading it over the surface of the shelf liner.
Then we attached the shelf liner to the underside of the strap in the area we wanted it. We repeated this with the second piece of shelf liner.
Then we laid the strap on a flat surface, shelf liner side up, and left it for 24 hours to dry.
Now when my daughter wears her purse, it clings to her shoulder – and she loves it!
And, yes, you can still adjust the strap carefully.
