Sharpen Decorative Edge Scissors

By Noreen 31 Comments

By Noreen Doll.

Decorative edge scissors are fun to use, and they leave pretty edges on paper projects.

Crafty Journal - Sharpen Decorative Edge Scissors

A good tip for using the scissors is to not cut quite all the way to the tip when you are cutting. Stop a short distance from the end and then realign the scissors to continue cutting.

Cutting all the way to the end can cause the paper to tear instead of cut.

After you’ve used a pair of decorative edge scissors for a while, they sometimes cut less cleanly.

The best way I’ve found to sharpen them is to cut through folded aluminum foil several times.

Just get a piece of aluminum foil and fold it 3 or 4 times.

Then cut slices of it off until the decorative edge scissors work well again.

You can use this idea for regular scissors, too.

The shiny strips of foil you create can be used in crafting.
