Make a paper plate Valentine card that can be as intricate or as simple as you want it to be.
It’s a good and easy project for kids because they can use crayons, markers, stickers or cut-out pictures.
Most kids will like making a giant Valentine card to give to someone special.
There are 2 variations shown here.
Supplies.
2 Paper Plates
Colored Scrapbooking Paper
Valentine Stickers
Crayons or Markers
Fancy Edged Scissors (Optional but Fun)
Paper Clip or Binder Clip
2 Brads
Double Sided Tape
How to Make a Paper Plate Valentine Card.
The underside or bottom of the plate will be the outside of the card.
1. Cut out a circle to fit in the center of each paper plate.
Glue it on the bottom of the plate in the middle. (I used Mod Podge.)
2. Fold each plate exactly in half and crease.
3. Put the plates together as shown, with the folded left plate inside the folded right plate to form a heart.
This is how the plates look on the inside.
The straight black lines are the folds, and the edges of the plates are shaded to show how they look when overlapped.
4. Adhere the plates where they overlap.
5. Make a heart to fit inside the folds of the 2 plates.
Adhere the heart inside the flaps.
6. Write your message on the heart.
7. Close the flaps and use a clip
or clothespin
or clamp to hold it closed.
Alternative Paper Plate Valentine Card.
The underside or bottom of the plate will be the outside of the card.
1. Color the bottom of the 2 plates however you want them.
These plates were colored around the ridged area.
The plate bottoms will be on the outside of the card.
2. Fold the plates in half with the plate bottom on the outside.
3. Put the 2 plates together, with the left plate inside the right plate, forming a heart as shown above.
4. On the inside, use a binder clip at the point of the heart to hold the 2 plates together.
At the top, where the plates overlap and form a vee, poke a hole through both plates
and put a brad there to hold the plates together.
5. Put the binder clip at the top vee where the brad is and poke a hole at the point at the bottom where the plates are overlapped.
Add a brad through the hole to hold the plates together.
Now you should have a brad at the vee at the top and the point at the bottom of the heart.
6. The inside and outside of the heart / card can now be decorated.
