When you are trying to trace a pattern onto dark fabric or paper, it’s often hard to find a medium that will show up but not leave a permanent mark.
One of the things I like to use for this is a piece of white chalk. It shows up well on dark materials and can be wiped off when you are finished cutting.
If the chalk mark is on fabric, you can just scrape it off with your fingernail.
On paper, you can brush chalk off with an eraser, but I usually turn the marked side face down so the tracing lines don’t show.
Another way to mark dark items is with the edge of a thin sliver of soap. It’s a great way to use what’s left of a bar of soap!
So keep a sliver of soap and a piece of chalk with your paper crafting tools and in your sewing box.
