This year consider giving some unusual gift ideas. Sometimes the best gifts don’t come wrapped in a box.
Having the opportunity to experience something totally different than anything you’ve done before can be a really wonderful gift.
Some ideas for great experiences could be a ski trip, the opportunity to go mountain climbing, or take a kayak trip, or participate in an archeology dig.
Or it could be the chance to learn a new skill by taking art or pottery classes, or learning metal or wood crafting. An experience such as this could lead to a lifelong love of, or interest in that field.
Especially for young people, if you get to know their interests, you could offer them an adventure they’d never forget. Even better enjoy an adventure with him or her.
I had such an experience when my gift was the opportunity to blow my own glass Christmas ornament.
And the postage stamp put out by the Post Office celebrating 100 years of Boy Scouts was perfect for making Christmas ornaments for young men who are active in Scouting.

So think about the interests of the person you are gifting, and look for an opportunity to give him or her the most special gift they’ll ever receive.
