Many recipes call for shredded meat.
Here’s the quickest way I’ve found to shred meat.
Before cooking, cube the meat into 2 inch cubes.
Cook meat in your crock pot, oven, or stove top.
When the meat is finished cooking and ready to shred, simply use a potato masher to shred it.
Mash the meat, twisting the potato masher back and forth.
In just a few minutes all the meat will be shredded with no extra mess!
I didn’t pour off the liquid before I mashed, and it became part of the shredded meat, keeping it nice and moist.
This method can be used for beef, pork, or chicken. Chicken doesn’t need to be cubed before cooking, but I cut it into large chunks before mashing.
A potato masher is quick and easy to wash.
