Use packing tape to make sandpaper last longer.
Whenever I would sand a project, it seemed like the paper always tore and became useless long before the grit had been used up. It was very frustrating.
One day, after cutting a sheet of sandpaper to the size I needed, I grabbed a roll of packaging tape and taped strips all across the back.
It doesn’t matter if you have a few wrinkles as you are using the tape to make the sandpaper more durable.
It worked beautifully!
Now, with the tape on the back, I can use sandpaper until the grit is actually worn off, and I don’t waste it anymore.
Try this tip – you’ll love it!
Bonus! You’ll also sharpen your scissors while cutting the sandpaper.
