Here’s a frugal cutting tip that will help you conserve your supplies.
When creating, kids have a tendency to plop their template right down in the middle of that big lovely sheet of paper or craft foam.
By the time they’ve cut from the edge over to the shape, and then cut around the shape, the big lovely sheet of paper is pretty much unusable for anything else.
If you teach them to place their template in the corner of the paper, or whatever small area it fits, there will still be a big chunk of paper left to use for another project.

Definitely! I tried teaching my kindergarteners that trick. Some did better than others! Here from Creative Inspiration Party.

Great tip! It would be fantastic to get my little guy in the habit of cutting the corners first. Thanks for sharing at the Creative Inspiration Link Party. Mon 8p EST – Thurs 8p EST.

Great idea. I don’t want all the ragged bits of paper at home, but I do when I teach at school!

Yup, always do this with paper, fabric, wool or whatever I am working on. Thanks for sharing with SYC.

Good tip to train kids to do this, since I do it automatically. Thanks so much for sharing at #homemattersparty
