Here’s proof that Edgar Allan Poe shops at the Dollar Store!
With Halloween rapidly approaching, we are seeing wonderfully creative scenes, decorations, and costume ideas everywhere.
Many Halloween ideas involve vintage items such as old keys, candelabras, dried bones, antique jewelry, and aged furniture.
Because of the kind of literature Edgar Allan Poe wrote, one wonders what sort of intriguing items he may have had on his desk or near his writing area.
These are some of the interesting kinds of things he might have had nearby. Certainly they would have given him some of his macabre inspiration!
And guess where he may have found them? At the Dollar Store!
A few weeks ago I visited a nearby Dollar Store to find something new for creating Halloween crafts.
There on the shelves I found a raven (they called it a black crow, but I knew what it really was), a skull, candles and candlesticks, and old keys.
And I suddenly realized that these were all sinister items that Edgar Allan Poe used in his stories!
Looking at these old disturbing items almost makes me want to start writing a creepy story!
And now that I know Edgar Allan Poe shops at the Dollar store, I’ll be shopping there more often!
