American flag crafts are perfect for the 4th of July.
There are few things more stirring than seeing the American flag while listening to our National Anthem.
Here are several ways of making a flag, and more ideas for using the stars and stripes in other projects that have the look of the American flag.
You will find more flag crafts on every page of 4th of July crafts.
Flag crafts for kids are here.
American Flag Crafts
Old Glory
Use a large piece of bead board, plus a small wood rectangle, and paint to create a great version of Old Glory.
Wood Flag
With cheap pressed wood, paint and scrapbook paper, you can make a really nice looking wood flag.
2×4 Flag
Use rectangular and square blocks, and scrapbook paper to craft a 2×4 flag.
Flattened Can Flag
Craft a flattened can flag with a recycled tin can.Paint to finish.
Grand Old Flag
With metal flashing, paint, and adhesive, you can craft a Grand Old Flag to hang from a dowel.
Fourth of July Wind Chime
Create this Fourth of July wind chime flag with metal pipes and paint. More of an effort, but it looks worth it.
Flag in the Window
An actual flag was used for this project, but I think I would use craft foam or card stock, or paint the colors on canvas duck fabric rather than cut the American flag. Or perhaps you could find a flag fabric that you could use.
Red, White and Blue Placemats
Create red, white, and blue placemats for the 4th of July.
Flag Garland
Print these flags and create an easy flag garland.
Ribbon Door Flag
Use red, white and blue ribbons to make a ribbon door flag.
Flag Stepping Stone
Use ceramic tiles to make this wonderful flag stepping stone.
Other Stars and Stripes Crafts
Patriotic Star Clock
Paint a star shaped paper mache box red, white and blue and add a clock movement to it to make a patriotic star clock.
Patriotic Ornaments
Create patriotic ornaments using wood and paint. These have a vintage look.
Firecracker Napkin and Utensil Holder
Make a firecracker napkin and utensil holder using cardboard tubes or recycled tin cans. Add construction paper or paint in a stars and stripes pattern.
Fourth of July Party Pot
Use a terra cotta pot and patriotic colors to create a Fourth of July party pot.
Stand Alone Star
A stand alone star is made with stiff paper or styrofoam trays and markers or crayons.
Patriotic Candle Jar
With a glass jar and red, white, and blue paints you can craft a patriotic candle jar.
Patriotic Throw Pillow
What a great use for a shirt you no longer wear! Recycle a shirt into a patriotic throw pillow.

I love the 2nd flag at the top of this page! Did you make this one and if you did what did you use?
Noreen says
No, I didn’t make this flag. But it would be easy to replicate with strips of wood (or paint sticks) and buttons.
